Nothing like a little procrastination on starting a new big project to make us focus on some of the small things we've been putting off. We finally took the time to start decorating our master bedroom, something I've been meaning to do for a while.
We started with the curtain rods we picked up at Ikea months ago. The curtains I put up don't match, but at least they are both white. One is eventually going to go in the guest room and the other in the upstairs hall, but for now these are just placeholders because I haven't found the right set yet for this room. And I just wanted to put something up. We hung the curtains/rods high and wide to accentuate the wide window casings. It also makes the windows feel a lot bigger.
We also finally upgraded the mismatched lamps on our mismatched nightstands to two wall-mounted swing arm lamps I bought up from Crate & Barrel (on clearance of course) back in early June. Placing them was a little bit of a challenge thanks to the off-center window behind the bed, but I think we balanced everything the best we could by adding the framed photo on the right side of the window.
Like every other room in this house, there are still so many things I would like to do - find proper curtains, upgrade our dressers (mine has deceptively small drawers that hold very little and Mike's is plastic Ikea), get a much taller floor-length mirror (that little mirror is so awkward), upgrade our mismatched nightstands (mine is actually a folding TV tray with a basket underneath!) and do a lot more decorating. While the room is functional and now looks a lot better than it did before, it's still pretty bland/vanilla/lacking personality.
