We bought our 1920's colonial in June 2010. We fell in love with its charm, high ceilings, and the details: original trim, glass door knobs, wood floors and the stained glass window.
In our neighborhood, each original house was designed by the same architect and has a stained glass window on the stairwell landing. Each window is unique and the “signature” of the house. Ours is an abstract bird - and one of our favorite features.
The house has great bones, but it needs a ton of work. We’re regular people with minimal DIY experience who are just trying to turn our house into a cozy home. We’re not “show house” people hoping that our kitchen ends up in a magazine. We’re real people who want a comfortable house that works for the way we live for our family. Things get messy, it's not perfect, and we consider our home a work in progress. On a tight budget and tight schedules (since we both work full time and have a toddler!), little by little we're tackling projects and making improvements to our little yellow house. We've come a long way, but we have along way to go.
We hope you'll come back and visit often!
