Happy Halloween!
We love Halloween around here, so we weren't about to miss out on the holiday. We were fully set up for social distancing. Our house had a contactless candy chute on the porch rail, and when we were out trick-or-treating we set up a table with candy spread out (as opposed to a bowl where little fingers touch everything in it). Our kids even had a bug catching net with a 6 ft telescoping handle for any houses that weren't setup for distancing (there were only a couple, almost everyone in our neighborhood was prepared).
Oliver was an alien carrying a little kid. It was hilarious. Matt was Spiderman. Morgan had a flamingo. They were adorable.
In our neighborhood it's like a party. Fire pits were outside. Two doors down they had an outdoor movie going. The kids ran around outside (even in the freezing temps) post trick-or-treat and had a lot of fun. We had significantly fewer trick-or-treaters than in years past due to COVID, but I think that's for the best with the current trends. The kids preferred it too because everyone was giving out extra candy to get rid of it.
I'm glad the kids were able to have this. It's been a tough year and the holidays are going to be so different - at least they were able to have an almost-normal Halloween.
