Of course this process is a lot more complicated than it sounds. Actually the whole thing was pretty horrible for Mike thanks to all the old wiring. Not only did he have to cut a new hole in the wall, mess with the old box and install a new one - he found that the wiring was in really bad shape. So of course this meant cutting a MUCH bigger hole, cutting the old wiring out to make new connections, adding new boxes for those connections... It was even more complicated than I can explain and worse than I want to express. It was awful. All for one light switch.
But now (JOY!) the switch is in the sun room and the wall in the living room is free and clear for the bookshelf (which was turned to match the other). The old switch hole is patched and we've also patched the giant mess of the sun room wall. Mike actually put in a dimmer switch in here so this room can be multi-functional - bright when we need it and cozy when we don't.
The living room switch - going... going... gone! |
The sun room - the pink wall "before", the original small hole, then the big giant hole - patched with the switch. |
