Nursery Fabric Swatches

I’ve been looking at different fabric collections for our woodland themed nursery. I knew I’d never find a pre-made bedding collection that I liked, and most were ridiculously expensive. I knew that making my own (with some serious help) was the best option - if I could find the right fabric collection. I wanted something fun but still sophisticated - nothing too “cutesy.” The fabrics had to fit the woodland theme of course. I decided to stick to mostly trees and leaves with complimentary patterns and textures because most of the animal textiles were too cartoony for my taste.

At first I wanted to use these awesome fabrics by Joel Dewberry.  I love the coordinating patterns that look so good mixed and matched together:

But then I discovered this wonderful collection by Golly Bard on Spoonflower (Spoonflower is this awesome site that does custom fabric of your design and for talented artists). The beautiful watercolor patterns are fun, sophisticated and gorgeous. The soft colors will blend beautifully with the espresso wood furniture and Hollingsworth Green wall color. I was madly in love at first sight.

The only drawback? Narrowing down the choices was HARD. I wanted every single fabric in the collection, but how many could I possibly fit into one teeny tiny nursery? Eventually with some help I was able to narrow things down and worked it out. I’ll share my final fabric choices tomorrow.

  1. I absolutely cannot wait to see this nursery when it's done. These fabrics, and the wallpaper options, are to. die. I had Charlie's bed set made by two people on Etsy. I'm happy to go find their info if you'd like. Ours were all done in Amy Butler fabrics.

  2. Oh I love Amy Butler's fabrics - they are always so gorgeous!

I think I'm going to attempt to make the crib bedding myself (with some serious sewing help from my mom), but it definitely couldn't hurt to have a backup plan if you want to pass along the Etsy vendor's info! Thank you!
