Bedroom Ceiling Fan Upgrade

Our bedroom ceiling fan has been on constantly since the summer heat came on full blast around here.  It’s supposed to be 96 here today, maybe even hotter.  With our old fan setup, the single light switch controlled  both the fan and the light at once - everything on or everything off.  If we had the fan on and the light off, entering the room in the dark resulted in a lot of stubbed toes and bruised shins as we fumbled to find the ceiling pull chain in the dark.  It was not ideal.

When Mike installed the fan in the guest room and office, he installed a double switch that controlled the fan and the light separately.  It was exactly what we needed in the bedroom.  With the onset of summer, Mike took a break from all of our outdoor adventures to spend some quality time in our boiling hot attic to give our setup an upgrade.

The new switch required all new wiring in the wall and in the attic (what a pain!), but the new double switch makes it all worth it.  Sometimes it’s the little things that make all the difference.  In this case, it’s being able to control the fan and light separately when we walk into the room without injuring ourselves.
