Our hot water heater was leaking after Hurricane Irene. Not a flood, but a slow drip that left a daily puddle on the floor to mop up. We knew it was going to go any day, and probably soak our basement floor all over again in the process. And then we’d be without hot water.
So we called our plumber. While we’re willing to do some basic plumbing things ourselves, we don’t mess with the big stuff. He came with a new 50 gallon tank that’s much more energy efficient than our old one from the 1980s. And he took the old crusty one away. The new one heats up water much faster and it looks nicer.
